Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. He also attended the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

He has been a director and volunteer for several non-profits during his career.
