Scott Dowdy is a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Bank of America Private Bank in Clayton, Missouri. He serves the portfolio management and investment needs of high-net-worth individuals and families with generational wealth who have complex assets and balance sheets and unique family structures.
Scott enjoys building long-term relationships with clients to help stay apprised of their changing needs and is committed to helping them achieve financial outcomes aligned to their personal goals. He looks to advance their long-term well-being with a high level of customization across multiple assets classes and investment vehicles, including individual equities, alternative investments, and separately management accounts.
A skilled communicator, Scott can articulate the nuances of varied investment offerings, helping clients make informed decisions about the implementation of their investments. His exposure to multiple market cycles and economic themes has enhanced his ability to navigate diverse environments and take an active approach to investing. Tapping into his analyst background, Scott’s areas of focus include both traditional and alternative investments, individual equity research, risk management, tax-efficient investing, asset allocation, and rebalancing of portfolios.
Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank in 2010 with more than 15 years of experience, Scott worked as a general sector analyst and senior research analyst for Kennedy Capital Management. While there he covered a variety of sectors, including a focus on the consumer sector. Over the course of his career at the Private Bank, he has held several roles including high-net-worth portfolio manager and co-portfolio manager. During his tenure, he served as a portfolio analyst for the strategy while helping build out the analyst team. In 2020, Scott shifted his focus to work solely on executing portfolios for his clients and their families.
Scott earned his Bachelor’s degree in finance magna cum laude, from Missouri State University Honors College, and his MBA in finance from St. Louis University. Scott is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA® Institute and the St. Louis Society of Financial Analysts. His hobbies center around spending time with his family at their lake house and watching his children’s various sports and music activities.
