Managing Director, Private Client Advisor

Professional Profile

Eric Melman is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in New York City. Eric advises a select group of ultra-high-net-worth clients whose wealth necessitates the sustained attention, detailed oversight, and perceptive strategy that he and his team can provide. He draws on more than fifteen years of experience addressing the needs of a highly accomplished clientele, helping them advance ambitious goals and preserve their legacies for successive generations.

Eric is adept in discerning the distinctive needs of entrepreneurs, hedge fund and private equity principals, developers and other real-estate investors, and generations of wealthy families—many of whom he has known for years. He is particularly skilled in understanding a family’s credit needs and offers extensive experience managing complex balance sheets and overseeing structured-lending opportunities. He complements these strengths with a network of deep relationships across the enterprise, providing valuable connectivity in areas that include investment banking and capital markets.

Clients look to Eric for a disciplined process, forthright communication, and creative problem-solving. He and his team provide strategic guidance in areas that include investment management, trust and estate planning services, wealth strategy, philanthropy, and family office services. Working in concert with a client’s external tax and legal advisors, as needed, Eric also facilitates tax-minimization strategies.

Eric joined the Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2005. Previously, he served as a segment producer at CNBC. He holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from The Ohio State University in economics and journalism.

Eric lives with his wife and their two daughters in New Jersey. Active in several sports, he participates in Spartan competitions and also coaches youth athletics. In his free time, he reads newspapers from dozens of cities in the U.S. to broaden his perspective on national trends.

In his role at Bank of America Private Bank, Eric does not provide tax advice.
