Erin Smith is a Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Officer with Bank of America Private Bank in Norfolk, Virginia. Erin works closely with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, helping them design and implement their plans, using fiduciary standards, in keeping with their preferences, priorities, and objectives. Knowledgeable and discreet, she draws on an extensive background in trust and estate planning services to support clients in making informed decisions about the structure and administration of their long-term legacies. She works in concert with fellow specialists within the Private Bank, as well as a client’s external tax and legal advisors, as necessary, to advance a unified approach centered on the unique circumstances of each relationship. 

Erin has extensive experience, having served as a trust and estate planning attorney for more than a decade.  Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank, she was a managing partner at boutique law firm in Williamsburg, VA, and also practiced trust and estate planning at other law firms, including her own practice.  Erin has also been an adjunct professor of law at the Elder and Disability Law Clinic, William and Mary Law School, since 2016.  

She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Washington, and her Juris Doctor from the Appalachian School of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List. 

Passionate about her community, Erin has served as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem for children and incapacitated adults, and also as counsel for CASA (“Court Appointed Special Advocates”) in Williamsburg, Virginia. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar, Trusts and Estates and Family law Sections.
