James J. C. Byrne is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Manager with Bank of America Private Bank in New York City. James provides coordination, oversight and direction for a client’s financial affairs, orchestrating effective collaboration across the members of a client’s Private Bank team. His tenure and continuity heighten James’s ability to advance measurable progress toward client objectives, allowing him to pinpoint appropriate resources, enterprise wide. James leverages his prior experience to make clients’ financial lives simpler and easier. He offers a robust approach grounded in critical thinking and careful analysis. An experienced team leader, James is also adept in overseeing complex initiatives from beginning to end, keeping clients apprised of the team’s efforts on their behalf. A skilled communicator, he facilitates close collaboration with a client’s external tax and legal advisors, as appropriate.
James joined Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2014. Prior to his current role, he served as a Senior Trust Officer. In this capacity, he advised clients about the creation and implementation of their fiduciary plans. Previously, James served as an Associate Wealth Strategist, where he guided clients to pursue their financial, estate and philanthropic planning objectives. Prior to joining the firm, he was a practicing attorney, where he specialized in estate planning, trust and estate administration, Surrogate’s Court proceedings and elder law. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Providence College and his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law.
James is admitted to the Bar in New York State and is a member of the Trusts and Estates section of the New York Bar Association.
