Managing Director, Wealth Strategies Advisor
Javier Romero is a Managing Director, Wealth Strategist and Head of the Business Owners Center of Excellence at Bank of America Private Bank in New York City. Javier works closely with high-net-worth business owners, families and foundations, providing them with sophisticated planning advice. He aims to understand clients’ personal and professional circumstances as well as business and family structures to provide customized service and solutions that are designed to help clients pursue their objectives around business transitions and family legacies.
Javier joined Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2013. Previously, he practiced law in the Personal Planning Department of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and the Trusts and Estates Department of McLaughlin & Stern, LLP. As an attorney, Javier focused on complex succession, tax, and estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and families, focusing on the needs of private fund principals and owners of closely-held businesses. Javier’s practice also extended to multigenerational planning, encompassing sophisticated lifetime trust arrangements, and planning for philanthropists and art collectors.
Javier earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as an editor of the Journal of Constitutional Law, and his B.A. in English, cum laude, from Cornell University. He also holds an M.A. in comparative literature from Dartmouth College and studied at L’Université de Paris, La Sorbonne. Javier speaks Spanish and is proficient in French.
Javier is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
In his spare time, when not working with clay in the pottery studio, Javier enjoys exploring the south Florida food scene and hiking in the northeast mountains of the Adirondacks and Berkshires.
