Joel Gruizenga is a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Bank of America Private Bank in Chicago, Illinois. Joel works closely with high-net-worth individuals and families, helping them manage their assets in keeping with their distinctive goals, preferences, cash-flow needs, and risk tolerance. He helps clients streamline the complexities that can accompany significant wealth by designing customized portfolios that reflect their unique circumstances, tax-situations, and time horizons.
A veteran Portfolio Manager, Joel offers technical insight and a seasoned perspective on the capital markets. His exposure to multiple market cycles and economic themes has enhanced his ability to navigate diverse investment environments. He believes strongly in the value of clear communication, helping clients discern their options and pursue informed decisions about their financial lives. He is also adept in working with multiple generations of client families to enhance their financial knowledge and empowerment. Joel has worked in investment management since 2001 and joined Bank of America (previously U.S. Trust) in 2005. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University and his M.B.A. from the College of Business at Northern Illinois University. Joel earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠ designation and recently earned the Chartered SRI Counselor℠ designation.
Joel is married and has three children. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing with his family in Michigan and Northern Wisconsin, as well as traveling to other locales outside the Midwest.
