John R. Irwin is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in Troy, Michigan. John leads a team of locally based specialists who work in concert to address the financial needs of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. With over 30 years of experience, John offers an integrated approach to wealth management that is designed to help clients preserve, grow, and transfer their wealth more effectively. Given his commercial banking background, he has a special interest in working with business owners who are anticipating the sale or transition of their business interests.

John brings the knowledge and insight that stem from a range of leadership roles in financial services. His prior positions include Senior Vice President and Market Executive for Bank of America Private Bank and head of Wealth Management for LaSalle Bank in Michigan. He also served as President of Comerica Securities and headed its strategic planning group. He began his career at Manufacturers Bank in commercial lending. John earned his B.A. in finance with High Honors from Michigan State University and his M.B.A. from Wayne State University. 

John has served as a trustee for Lighthouse of Oakland County and is a past member of Oakland University School of Business.

In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. A fitness enthusiast, he also participates in a variety of activities including hiking, biking, masters swimming, triathlons, and golf.
