John Kahler is a Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Officer with Bank of America Private Bank. He advises high net worth families in estate planning, tax considerations, and trust administration. He works closely with the team to provide guidance on and implement a wide range of financial and personalized strategies to help address the concerns and goals of clients and families. Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2006 he served as Vice President at J.P. Morgan Chase.

John began his career at The Bank of Boston in Boston, Massachusetts in 1980. He graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1977 and from Suffolk University with a Master of Business Administration in 1982. John holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the Accredited Domestic Partnership AdvisorSM designation.

An avid historian, he is a former board member of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation and has served on the board and investment committee of the Masonic Charity Foundation. John’s previous experience as a Private Banker, Trust Officer and Private Client Manager helps him understand how both sides of a balance sheet work in relation to wealth preservation. He is versed around the needs of entrepreneurs, the LGBT community, as well as those of divorced women and concentrates on helping them pursue their financial goals.

John approaches every trust from a multi-generational perspective and he strives to provide guidance to current and next generations on how to manage wealth. In addition to his long-term vision he takes a team approach, often collaborating with the professionals who already work with clients, in his goal to preserve, grow and pass on the clients' wealth.
