Joseph Mahoney is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. An experienced team leader, Joe enjoys building and enhancing relationships with multiple generations of high-net-worth families, corporate executives, members of the LGBTQ community, and retired professionals. He also offers strategic perspective and sophisticated advisory services to help public and family foundations pursue their missions.

Drawing on his years of experience in corporate banking, Joe caters to the wealth structuring needs of business owners preparing to sell their businesses. Backed by a team of specialists, he offers personal banking strategies across multiple disciplines, including investment management, trust and estate planning services, philanthropic services, tax minimization strategies, customized credit and lending solutions for real estate financing and the acquisitions of fine art, yachts and personal aircraft.  

Joe has been with Bank of America and its predecessor firms since 1986 and has held numerous corporate banking positions over the past three decades. Previously, he was a vice president with Key Bank in Cleveland, Ohio. He later shifted roles from corporate banking to wealth management—becoming a financial advisor with the Private Bank in 2000 and with Merrill in 2004. Joe rejoined the Private Bank in 2013. Joe earned his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. 

An active member of his community, Joe is currently a board member for the Council for Educational Change and a committee member for the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. He is a former board member of the YMCA and the Red Cross. He and his wife of 40 years reside in Plantation, Florida. Joe’s hobbies include playing golf, reading, traveling and spending time with his four children and three grandchildren.
