Matthew Howard is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in San Jose, California. Matthew advises a select group of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, addressing multiple aspects of their financial lives. He leads a highly credentialed team of specialists, who work in concert to support clients in growing, preserving, and transferring their wealth more effectively. Matt has particular depth catering to the needs of C-suite executives within Silicon Valley, Native American tribal relationships, and real estate developers.
Matt draws on more than 35 years of financial services experience. He joined Bank of America in 2002 and has been a member of the Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) since 2008. Prior to his current role, he led Bank of America’s Premier Bank and Investment Group for the Western United States, where he managed a team of 1,200 associates. Previously, he spent 15 years with Morgan Stanley, ultimately serving as the Midwest Regional Executive overseeing 800 employees. He earned his B.A. in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has completed executive education programs at Stanford University, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Duke University.
Matt has held a number of leadership roles within the firm. He previously served as a member of Bank of America’s Environmental Committee and its National Diversity and Inclusion Council, as well as Banc of America Investment Services Investment Policy Committee. Within his community, Matt has been active with United Way of Santa Cruz, The Dominican Hospital, and the UCSC Foundation.
Matt and his wife Laura have five children. In his free time, Matt enjoys surfing, skiing, reading and cooking.
