Ellen Shain is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in Boston, Massachusetts. With more than 30 years of banking experience, she offers the knowledge and insights she has gained in advising high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families about significant decision points in the management and stewardship of their wealth.

As an advisor, Ellen is adept in pursuing measurable progress toward each client’s goals. She directs a team of Private Banking specialists in investments, trust and estate planning services, wealth strategies, banking and lending, and philanthropy. Together they implement tailored initiatives designed to simplify complexity, enhance transparency, and address the needs posed by varied life stages. Ellen appreciates the time-sensitive nature of client priorities. She is honored to serve a busy and sophisticated clientele, providing them with a balanced and informed perspective.

Ellen began her financial services career at First National Bank of Boston, where she gained experience in corporate banking before transitioning to private banking. She has held a number of leadership roles within legacy Bank of America as well as the Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust). She earned her undergraduate degree from Colby College. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification.

Ellen is a former trustee of the Pingree School in Hamilton, Massachusetts, and the Brookwood School in Manchester, Massachusetts. Most recently she served on the Board of Wellspring House, an organization that supports families in need in the Cape Ann community. She is a current member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
