Matthew Benson is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in New York. Trained as an underwriter, Matt offers extensive knowledge of structured credit and is skilled in helping clients assess possible lending outcomes. His leadership and responsiveness in overseeing the lending process, he believes, help facilitate expedited answers and uncover creative approaches for client needs. Matt also works in concert with specialists within the Private Bank to discern possible efficiencies across multiple facets of client wealth, including wealth management, trust and estate planning services, wealth strategy, deposit management, and philanthropy. Matt has more than two decades of experience with Bank of America and has served within Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S Trust) since 2016. Prior to his current role, he was a Credit Manager and Senior Vice President. In this capacity, he was responsible for structuring, credit underwriting and approval, and ongoing oversight of some of the most complex and significant credit relationships of the Private Bank. His career also includes experience in internal audit, troubled asset workout, financial analysis, and private equity. He earned his M.B.A. from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University and his B.A. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Matt and his wife have four children. In his free time, he enjoys supporting his children in their activities and traveling.
