Professional Profile

Barbara Mitchell Briner is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor at Bank of America Private Bank in the Seattle, Washington office. In this role, she addresses the complex needs of successful entrepreneurs and business owners, active and retired corporate executives, families, foundations, and endowments helping them achieve their financial goals.

Barbara is a Washington native and grew up in Seattle with a hardworking single mother and twin sister. Her mother often worried about money and didn’t have a plan or financial advisors. That’s one of the reasons she is passionate about taking care of her clients and providing them expert financial advice -- with her team of specialists – so they do not have to worry, knowing their financial house is "in order".

Barbara is active in the business community working with business owners, which she truly admires for the risks they take and the jobs they create. Barbara has over 35 years of experience in the industry. She joined Bank of America Private Bank in 2020.  Prior to that, she worked at various financial firms, including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Rainier Bank, in Commercial Banking, International Banking, and Private Banking. Barbara feels fortunate to have both worked in Commercial Banking, helping businesses to optimize their balance sheets, and in the Private Bank, helping individuals optimize their own balance sheets. She hopes this dual experience can provide wisdom and knowledge to business owners and their families in a more well thought out and fulsome way.

Barbara is passionate about preserving the wealth her clients worked hard to accumulate. Leading a team of experienced specialists, Barbara coordinated the formulation of tailored investment management, asset preservation, wealth management services, liability management, tax-minimization strategies, business succession planning, and trust and estate planning services to help achieve their family and philanthropic goals.

Barbara is philanthropically-minded and is often seen in the community attending and chairing local charity events. Barbara served on the boards of Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region in Tacoma, and the World Trade Center Seattle. She currently services on the Washington State Fair Foundation Board.  She also has chaired many charity events, such as Go Red, Celebrity Waiters benefitting Leukemia and Lymphoma and the Millionaire’s Club in Seattle.

Barbara resides in Milton, Washington with her husband, a Lieutenant at Eastside Fire.  She loves spending time with her family, which includes three children and three grandchildren. In addition to family time she enjoys cooking large family dinners, attending and hosting parties, traveling, sewing, gardening, hiking, skiing, sailing, and her Peloton.
