Terry McLaughlin is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in the New York City, New York area. He applies the knowledge and insight gained through more than three decades of institutional and private client experience to help nonprofits, business owners and high-net-worth families discern and pursue their wealth management goals. Terry seeks to build lasting relationships grounded in a deep understanding of each client’s personal circumstances, professional aspirations and philanthropic interest. Terry directs a team of Private Bank specialists who are experienced in creating customized strategies for investment management, specialty asset management and philanthropy, as well as trust and estate planning services and banking. As the team’s primary manager for client relationships, he seeks to serve as a trusted advisor and guide to help clients address the challenges, opportunities and complexities that can come with significant wealth.

Terry joined Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2015. Terry began his financial career at Kidder Peabody. In 1984, he joined a boutique investment firm where he later became a partner. When Terry and his partners sold their firm to Mellon Bank in 2003, the firm became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mellon Institutional Asset Management and Terry continued as president and chief investment officer. In 2009, he moved to the private bank at JP Morgan, where he was a managing director and senior banker.

A graduate of St. John’s University, Terry is a member of The New York Society of Security Analysts and a past board member of the NYSE Institutional Advisory Committee. He serves on the board of directors of the Eastern Long Island Hospital Foundation. He also supports the Charlie’s Champions Foundation and is a member of the Long Island Farm Bureau.
